By creating new, affordable homes on Long Island’s North Shore, we are increasing housing supply and promoting the type of inclusive, healthy communities that sustain thriving local economies for years to come. ABOUT GARVIES POINT

GARVIES POINT MUSEUM & PRESERVE
The Garvies Point Museum and Preserve are operated by Nassau County Department of Parks, Recreation & Museums.

This weekend is their Native American Fall Festival, an annual event held the weekend before Thanksgiving that celebrates the culture and life ways of northeastern Native Americans—held on Saturday and Sunday.

The museum is a center for research on Long Island geology and a valued resource in the study of the Island’s Native American archaeology.

The preserve consists of 62 acres of glacial moraine covered by forests, thickets, and meadows. There are about five miles of marked nature trails, including trails for the visually impaired.

Hours are Tuesday to Saturday, 10am-4pm
Closed Sundays and Mondays and Holidays

The taproom and restaurant of this independent brewery is open everyday. Their beers are all handcrafted onsite at their waterfront location, at 45 Herb Hill Road. They offer growlers and cans to go with—from IPAs to sours. Coming by boat? Dock for free while you dine!

DEEP ROOTS FARMER’S MARKET
Held Saturdays from 9AM-1PM at Garvies Point Park, Deep Roots Farmer’s Market has been extended thru November 18th. Customers can find anything from fresh fruits and vegetables, to handcrafted baked goods and cheeses. There are also vendors selling unique handmade crafts and natural health and beauty products.

WHY IS IT CALLED GARVIES POINT?
Most of the present-day Garvies Point Preserve was formerly part of the Garvie Estate, named for Thomas Garvie, who emigrated from Scotland to Glen Cove in 1803. One of only two local physicians at the time, Garvie was a talented young surgeon, businessman, geologist and maritime enthusiast, and a pillar of the local community.
